NewsPort v.2 is a continuation of an experimental online news and information site run out of the Journalism Department of San Francisco State University.
While NewsPort v. 1 was one of the very earliest such news sites ever published online, we have been heartened by the many more than have followed.
NewsPort v.2 uses different online authoring tools than NewsPort v. 1, but is very much anchored to the same standards NewsPort v. 1 carried with pride and purpose: Accuracy, attribution, fairness, skepticism, compassion, thoroughness and always the spirit of inquiry. We publish under the premise that news is important and interesting, that news is new and that the First Amendment is not just a right, but also a responsibility. NewsPort does not advocate political principals, cultural causes, business ballyhooing (or blasting) or religious reasoning. We do news.
NewsPort’s Grand High Poobah is Roland De Wolk, reporter, author and university journalism adjunct in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can read more about him at http://RolandDeWolk.com/
